Vert Dead? I don't think so. South Florida has always had a thriving vert scene, and lately a new ramp has been getting into the mix. The "Weir" ramp, as it's called, is a stone’s throw from another infamous South Florida ramp called "The Falls Ramp," which had its heyday in the mid 80's.
Vert skating, however, has come full circle and is now returning to its roots in the backyards of today's vert skaters--and South Florida’s own Robbie Weir is carrying on the tradition of keeping vert alive.
This is how most of us were introduced to vert skating and now a new generation of kids are learning to knee slide with some of the early innovators of the sport.
Here are few pics from this weekend’s backyard BBQ vert session with MovieTickets.com rider Alex Sorgente, Creatures skateboards Adam "Scissors" Effertz, Mark Lake, Lakes Skateboards’s Pedro Delfino, and a few other lucky souls the got the invite.
